Triniti Slaughter, A’Kayla Williams, and Kassandra Orcutt have been dancing together for years, and the 2017 fall dance concert is set to show their final time dancing with each other.

Triniti, A’Kayla, and Kassandra started their four-year friendship at Williston in the dressing room of their first dance show together. There, the three of them started to bond, and that was the start of their trio. Triniti and A’Kayla are seniors this year while Kassandra follows behind as a junior.

One of the trio members, Kassandra Orcutt, explains their friendship to The Willistonian, “Oh my god. All I can do is smile. Good times on top of funny snapchat videos. So many spontaneous moments that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

The girls decided to use their four-year friendship as an inspiration for their trio, and dedicate it to their memories together as a way to say goodbye.

A’Kayla explains the inspiration for their dance by stating, “It’s our last year dancing together and Kassandra doesn’t dance in the spring. We want to do a tribute to our friendship. The choreography describes our friendship and good memories together.”

The trio, called “Trifactor,” has been working very hard on their dance. Each part of their dance represents each of the girls’ personalities.

“Our personalities influence the moves and the overall choreography of the dance so while making it there would be moments where we should do this move and oh that’s such you move,” said Orcutt.

The trio incorporated five different songs and put them together and immediately started choreographing.

“We have five different songs and we all put them together and we just choreographed them together. A lot of the songs are very last-minute songs. Our first song is XO Tour Life and then Flawless and so on. The songs don’t reflect our friendship but our connection on stage reflects one another.”

Sophie Cowperthwait, a junior on the dance team, thinks Triniti and A’Kayla are great leaders.

“They make everyone feel like they are useful, and they always help everyone.” She added, “It’s really interesting to work with them because they have so much energy and they put so much effort into the choreography.”

Not only are A’Kayla and Triniti great leaders, but they are great role models for the dance ensemble and Williston.

“They set such a good example for everyone on the team. They invest themselves in every part of the dance program and they have made so many improvements to the way we do things,” said Kassandra.

The two captains have added a lot of flair to the fall dance ensemble. “They’ve definitely brought the team closer together and personally, have made the team a family for me,” Kassandra concluded.
