Trump has canceled his trip to England amid protest fears.

He had planned to open a new US embassy in London, but has decided it would be better to stay away.

“He got the message” mayor of London Sadiq Khan told The Guardian. Mayor Khan had previously imposed a ban on Trump due to his tweeting of anti-Muslim videos in December.

Trump has stated to The Guardian that the Obama administration moving the embassy to a different location in London as why he isn’t making the trip.

In a tweet he said “reason I cancelled my trip to London is that I am not a big fan of the Obama Administration having sold perhaps the best located and finest embassy in London for ‘peanuts’, only to build a new one in an off location for 1.2 billion dollars. Bad deal. Wanted me to cut ribbon-NO!”

The current embassy is in Grosvenor’s Square in North London, with the new one that Trump refuses to open himself is located in Nine Elms in South London. The old embassy has been sold to the Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, who plan to turn it into a hotel, according to The Guardian.

Trump feels that the new location is not befitting for the embassy of the US, according to The Guardian. It isn’t that simple though; according to CNN the embassy was sold because the US did not own the land that the embassy was built on. This new location will be entirely owned by the US.

Despite this cancelation, Prime Minister Theresa May and her administration remain adamant that the invitation has still been accepted, and that President Trump with make an official visit to England at a future date, according to the New York Times.

News of this cancellation has reached the Williston campus and have been met with disgust.

“Trump has been a joke ever since he got into office. He has no idea what he is doing and this is very evident of that,” senior Max Livingston said.

Others are still faithful to Trump and his administration.

Senior Brooke Leveillee said “I’ve been a Trump supporter since the beginning, and I still believe that he has the country’s best interests at heart. I don’t think this setback will stop him from doing what he has promised”.

Whether or not Trump has the best intentions for the country he is in charge of, some students still feel as if Trump is not the right man for the job.

Junior Cam Sherman said “He is ruining the image of the US. He needs to wake up and realize that he can’t just do and say whatever he wants”.

Trump however has always said what he felt, and has never sugar coated anything. Time will tell if he will visit the UK or not.
