The Fall Play: Rumors

by Denison Marsland-Rello ’13

After having been at every rehearsal, every run through, and every cast meeting thus far, I can safely say that this is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen on the Williston stage. I am of course talking about the fall 2012 show, Neil Simon’s Rumors. The covers of our scripts describe the show as “a farce” and that could not be a better description of what is to come.

From poking fun at the racially insensitive spoiled rich folk of the 90s, to the elaborate hoaxes the characters construct to fool each other (Hitler, Gorbachev, exploding manhole covers, and even an invisible cat all appear), to the over the top style of the play, Rumors hits it all, and it hits it all perfectly. Of course, none of this would matter if it wasn’t acted well; good thing our production definitely is!

Rumors has a rocking cast, all of whom portray their characters perfectly. Ranging from long time theatre alums to new actors, the cast is brilliant, beautiful, and talented to no end. And with our amazing director Emily Ditkovski, and our incredible assistant director Kathleen Kaisla ’13 making her Williston directing debut, every audience member is in for quite a treat.

Rumors has one of the most breathtaking sets ever made on the Williston stage, (and some of the most colorful vocabulary too). So there really is no excuse not to come!
