The jean jacket is one of those articles of clothing that you see everywhere right now. Just by walking from one class to my next class today I saw at least four girls wearing jean jackets.
This trend originally started in the 1870’s as a way for cowboys and miners to bear the stark conditions that occurred in the West. The jacket then traveled and was sported by bad boys and bad girls during the later part of the twentieth century. Now, however, the jacket is seen as an essential piece to wardrobes of all types of girls. The classic dark blue denim jacket can be worn with bright pastels, neutrals, and other styles, while the faded light blue gives outfits more of a soft springy feel no matter what’s worn underneath. There is also the white jean jacket used to brighten any outfit and mood. Let us not forget the back-again, 90s, acid-washed denim jacket that gives a tough feeling to any outfit. When asked, Khrystyna Vatseba said that she chose to have one in both light blue and in white because it was so versatile. She loved how “I could wear it to school and it would look casual and then take it off and look formal.”
No matter what your style is a jean jacket should be in it and used to it’s full potential.
