Nearly every Williston student has been to either the local Dunkin’ Donuts or the Easthampton-famous Tandem Bagel. Some go once a month, while others go daily. Their fans often go head-to-head in the Dunkin’-Tandem debate. The Willistonian wanted to settle things once and for all: which is better? We sent out a survey to the student body asking for their vote and why. Here are the results.

Of the 127 students that responded to our survey, 50% voted Tandem; 43% voted Dunks; 7% voted neither.

Why Tandem? Here are a few responses, from anonymous students:

“Because the bagels are sensational.”

“There’s more of a selection and the ingredients are much better.”

“[Tandem] has better quality. Though Dunkin’ has cheaper prices, it’s not by much. Tandem is definitely a convenience since it’s closer. I would never get food from Dunkin’ only Tandem. Coffee I could swing either way though.”

“More options (like…food)!!! And better chai!!! And outdoor seating (not really applicable in the winter…). Dunkin is good for when you want to do something with your friends but don’t have a lot of time. Tandem is just good.”

Some students who voted for Dunkin said:

“Dunkin has more stuff  … it is more convenient to get to. Also it is open all the time compared to Tandem.”

“Tandem is too expensive, and the smell afterwards is bad.”

“There’s Dunkin’ in my home town and I have a loyalty card to them.”

“It is cheaper and I prefer their drinks because they are sweeter and it is typically quicker.”

“I live and grew up in Boston. Dunkin’ is in my blood.”

Dunkin’ fans love their coffee, cheap prices, and flexible hours. Meanwhile, Tandem lovers rave about their healthy options, quality food, and overall atmosphere. When it comes to this battle-of-the-bagels, which do you prefer? [Editor’s note: I prefer Dunkin’. Right now I’m drinking a medium mocha swirl.]
