Popular TV Shows at Williston

According to the World Television Day website, “Television is a medium that improves the world, triggers imagination, raises curiosity, encourages education and gathers millions around common interests.”

It is believed by many that TV plays an important role in society and improving education. In a Willistonian survey, students, faculty, and administrators were asked questions regarding their favorite TV shows.

People were asked about their favorite genre of TV. Seventy-one out of the 107 people who answered the survey said that their favorite genre was comedy. It was followed by drama with forty-two votes.

According to an article on the 11th Hour Comedy, “A comedy show that evokes a hearty laugh relieves you of stress and relaxes your muscles for a short span of time. The release of endorphins is triggered through laughter. These chemicals improve you state of well being and also momentarily relieve you of physical pain.”

Some of the most popular TV shows at Williston were Greys Anatomy, The Office, Gossip Girl, How to Get Away with Murder, and The Walking Dead.

Respondents were also asked to list ways they watch their TV. Sixty-six people use Netflix, thirty-three watch via a TV set, fifteen use Hulu, and the rest are in the “other” category, which includes online websites and other TV servers.

The three TV shows that were found to be the most discussed about among students and faculty are Game of Thrones, Greys Anatomy, and Making a Murderer.

Every respondent said that they either watched their TV at night or on weekends, since the busy life at Williston during the day may not give students and faculty the chance to watch TV during the day.

According to these demographics, it is shown that both students and faculty at Williston value their TV shows and mange to find ways to always stay updated with them as well.
