Tensions Between U.S. and North Korea Rising

On Thursday, April 27th, a North Korean propaganda site called Meari posted a video featuring simulated attacks on the White House, declaring “the enemy to be destroyed is in our sights. ” In the video, the presidential residence was targeted; there were also aircraft carriers, explosions, Navy vessels and rushing military. Earlier this week, the Trump administration summoned Congress  to a briefing regarding the issue imposed by Pyongyang.

British Prime Minister Proposes Early Elections 

On Tuesday, April 18th, British Prime Minister Theresa May proposed an early election on June 8, which was later approved by the Parliament on Wednesday, April 19th. The proposal was aimed to strengthen May’s parliamentary support in the negotiations over Brexit, the British exit from the European Union. Earlier this year, May set the deadline for Britain’s departure in March 2019. According to the New York Times, May emphasized on the necessity of a new mandate for her Conservative Party, saying: “Five years of strong and stable leadership, to see us through the negotiations.”
