The Fall Dance Concert this year will leave you beyond speechless. As a dancer with the very talented Williston Dance Ensemble, I can genuinely say that there are some spectacular dances just waiting to be shown to an audience. Putting a dance onstage isn’t a one-man job. We’ve been working very hard these past two months to impress the entire Williston community with our wonderful and diverse backgrounds in dance. It takes a team to create and showcase the Fall Dance Concert. With the advice of Laurel Raffetto, our Dance Director, the dancers and the choreographers have been working hard to perfect their movements to make the experience for you, the audience, enchanting and enjoyable.

The choreography this year is definitely different; I know a few dancers have experienced a few bruises along the way, but the end result is breathtaking. This fall dance concert will display an array of genres, ranging from the usual ballet and modern, to the not-so-usual classical Indian dance. I guarantee the variety will capture your attention. The music will provoke thought; it introduces new artists, and maybe even brings back a few loved ones. As Emma Hing states, “There is a lot of variety; some songs everyone will know, and some that will be unfamiliar. There is a lot of energy in the dances.”

Of course, where would the dance concert be without the dancers? We’re all so different—height-wise, technique-wise, background-wise- yet we all share this one love of expressing ourselves through movement. Some people onstage will surprise you with their hidden talents, and that’s what we’re all about: sending a message through dance. Seeing these dancers challenge themselves is inspiring.

As Brittany Collins eloquently says, “Being able to share emotions and stories with the audience strengthens the group’s bond, the audience’s bond, and the bond between everyone else involved with the show.” We yearn to connect with the audience and capture their attention. We have a crazy, dance-loving group of students who are beyond excited to show you the incredible talent, choreography, hard work we’ve put into the repertoire. As Maddi Wise excitedly says, “You’re gonna want a front seat!”

So, with that, I encourage you all to come witness this incredible talent-filled event on November 9 and 10 at 7:30 in the theater!

Prepare to be amazed.
