The new technology in the weight room has Williston student eager to start lifting.
Williston has invested in iPads for the weight room. Each rack has its own individual iPad. Each iPad has an app called TeamBuildr, which serves as trackers for athletes’ lifting progress. Every day for lift, the athletes can find their scheduled workout plan.
Williston’s Strength and Conditioning program, run by Coach Blayne Lapan, has been using paper sheets, but as of Aug. 30 of this year, the athletes were surprised with brand new iPads for the racks to maximize each athlete’s efficiency and track their progress
TeamBuildr was founded in 2013 by Hewitt Tomlin and James Peters. The purpose for this app, in addition to benefiting thse doing the lifting, is to help Strength and Conditioning coaches manage their teams more efficiently by creating and tracking customized workout programs digitally.
Rowan Martin, a three-year junior boarding student, feels excited about the new app, and thinks that it is a lot easier for him to track his progress.
“It is a lot easier than using the paper and having to write down every set,” said Rowan, a captain of the Varsity Football team. “It’s also good because it keeps track of your weight and what you did the previous week.”
Cam Tabb, a two-year senior boarder, thinks the new iPads are a big upgrade.
“I like them because you can get through your workout more swiftly, and it keeps track of your data so you can go back and see your old workouts to see your progress,” Cam said.
Seniors Brooks Connors and Mathew Rodriguez appreciate the impact TeamBuildr has already had on them and their fellow athletes.
“I like them a lot because it is easier to our numbers in rather than writing them in on a piece a paper,” Brooks said. “It is quick and efficient and feels like I am in a college weight room.”
