Megan Moroney’s new album has sparked a resurgence in country music for teenage girls all around the country.
Moroney, a 28-year-old country singer from Savannah, GA, released a new single “Beautiful Things” on Friday, October 24. Moroney fans have been waiting for her newest album since her last and most popular album, “Am I Okay?” released in July 2024. Since then, she has released two singles this past spring, and a cover. The first single being a collaboration with popular country singer Kenny Chesney about her experience at her concert with him. The song, “You Had to Be There” was released in May of 2025 and then in June, “6 Months Later,” her second single, instantly blew up and got fans excited for the possibility of an album.
Moroney came out with a cover with Apple Music over the summer of deceased country singer Toby Keith’s “Who’s Your Daddy”.
She hit it big with songs like “Tennessee Orange,” “I’m Not Pretty,” “Sad Songs for Sad People,” and “No Caller ID.”
Moroney’s albums usually consist of her experiences dating men that don’t treat her well, heartbreak, and her life living in Georgia. Her last album, “Am I Okay?” uses the color of “Megan Blue,”a dark royal blue to correlate with the theme of sadness.
Moroney, who describes herself as the “emo cowgirl,” made her debut EP in 2022 with “Pistol Made of Roses”, which consists of one of her most popular songs, “Hair Salon.” A few years later in 2023 she released “Tennessee Orange,” which earned her a CMA nomination for song of the year.
Fans suspect that her next color will be yellow since she has been posting on her social media in yellow outfits and items, as well as wearing a yellow dress to the 2025 ACM awards in May, when she first announced that she was working on her next album.
Mia Shaw, a day student, also agrees that her next album might be yellow.
“I’ve seen a lot of posts on Instagram with her in yellow and at this yellow themed coffee shop,” she said.
Moroney is known for her relationship with popular country artist Morgan Wallen; they have both been suspected to have written certain songs about each other. Wallen’s song “TN” is suspected to be about Moroney; Moroney’s first hit, “Tennessee Orange” is suspected to be about Wallen.
Moroney and NFL star George Kittle were rumored to be dating after meeting at the end of a 49ers game. After this sparked online, Moroney reached out publicly and stated she wasn’t “dating anyone” and “remains single.”
Mia Shaw, a sophomore day student, went to see Moroney in Boston over the summer.
“Our concert was at Roadrunner in Boston” she said. “It only holds 3,500 people, so it was a really intimate concert.” “There’s no seats, it’s just a stand-up venue so it got everyone excited and hype for the concert.”
Carson Farrell, a freshmen from Greenfield, Mass., went to see Moroney in concert this past summer and enjoyed it.
“I went to her concert in July, and it was really fun” she said. “She does a great job incorporating her fans into the show.”
Carson’s favorite songs aren’t the most popular ones but are very catchy for younger listeners.
“My favorite songs by her are ‘Why Johnny’ and ‘Heaven by Noon’” she said. “I think what makes her songs so popular to high schoolers is that they are relatable but also are very emotional.”
Moroney has won several awards such as the 2025 MTV VMA for Best Country, the 2024 ACM Award for New Female Artist of the Year, and the 2024 CMA Award for New Artist of the Year. At the 2025 Billboard Women in Music event, she was named with the award of Rulebreaker Award.
Jillian Lavallee, a sophomore from Hatfield, Mass., looks forward to seeing Moroney’s concert in the future.
“I didn’t get to see her in concert, but I really would like to, and I hope she tours again in the U.S. soon,” she said.
Jillian wasn’t aware of the release date for her upcoming single but was ecstatic to hear the news.
“No, I didn’t know,” she said. “I am really excited now; it’s been a while since she released ‘6 Months Later.’”
Although Moroney hasn’t set a release date for her next album, she said in an interview with Elle USA that she is done making the album on her part and she just needs other people to do their part.
